Undergrad Profile

We do scholarship, character, culture, and service.

W

e dopersonalized
With small classes, a 14:1 student-faculty ratio, and the ability for students “to create your own academic major,” Catawba’s strength lies in its ability to help students nurture and fully realize their dreams.
We help students develop skills that
employers say they need, including the ability to solve problems, communicate clearly, utilize technology, and work in teams.

We doopportunity
By offering our students the chance to be active participants inside and outside the classroom, Catawba focuses on developing the whole person. Students thrive in our nurturing campus environment by playing on one of our 18 NCAA Division II athletic teams, joining one of our 40 clubs or organizations, playing intramural sports, being part of our Catawba Pride marching band, or participating in a musical group or theatre production.
Want to study abroad? We do that too. Our students make short capstone trips as part of a class and can also spend semesters studying abroad in language and cultural immersion programs. Foreign study broadens students’ perspectives and helps then gain insights into cultural diversity. Recent trips have taken our students and faculty to Greece, France, Wales, Costa Rica, and China.
We doreal world
Experiential learning opportunities are an important component of almost every academic major on campus. These real-life, real-world opportunities give our students a chance to practically apply their classroom knowledge and explore a vocation to see if it is the right one for them. Whether the student completes a semester-long internship at a business or nonprofit or volunteers in a community service project, the experiences they gain are invaluable in helping shape their academic preferences and future.

We doaccess
One hundred percent of freshmen at Catawba receive financial assistance. We know that affordability and value matter, and Catawba is committed to helping deserving students realize their dream of earning a college degree. We provide access by offering generous merit, talent, and need-based funding that makes the cost of a Catawba College education comparable to that of public colleges and universities. n
