Undergrad Profile

Academically speaking

With the personal attention and intimate class sizes of a small, private college, plus the powerful academic resources of a well-rounded research university, Nova Southeastern University (NSU) is the ideal place to earn your degree. All of our classes are taught by professors, not teaching assistants, with an average class size of just 22 students. And because almost all of NSU’s prestigious graduate and professional schools are right here on campus, you can earn your master’s or doctoral degree here too.

The diversity at NSU will prepare you for a variety of life experiences. Our students come from more than 116 countries, and all of them are here to get the most of their education and college experience.

Shark Bite: Our new College of Allopathic Medicine makes NSU the only university in the Southeastern U.S. and the first in Florida to house both an osteopathic and allopathic medical school.

Farquhar Honors College
As a high-achieving student who wants to be challenged, you’ll want to check out our Farquhar Honors College. Engaging and thought-provoking course work provides life-changing learning opportunities through research, social activities, career-defining internships, and study across the world.

Dual Admission Program
If you have a laser-like focus on your career goals, consider our Dual Admission Program. You’ll automatically have a reserved spot in NSU’s acclaimed graduate or professional programs while you earn your bachelor’s degree.
In addition to jump-starting the master plan for your future, enrolling in our Dual Admissions Program means it could take less time to reach your goals. Some programs are combined-degree programs, which can decrease the years of study required as an undergrad to enter graduate or professional school.

Shark Bite: With more than 50 undergraduate majors from biology to business, as well as countless minors to choose from, you’re sure to find the right choice to achieve your career goals.

Life beyond the classroom
There are so many things that distinguish NSU: academic reputation, community involvement, the South Florida lifestyle, and even comfortable residence halls that are close to the Don Taft University Center’s recreation complex, on-campus dining, and, of course, your classes.

NSU’s ultramodern campus features one of the largest libraries in Florida, the Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center. The library’s five floors are packed with academic resources, have total wireless access, and a café. The student recreation complex, the RecPlex, is next door, inside the University Center. So as soon as you’re done working, you don’t have to go far to play.

Inside the RecPlex you’ll find the Flight Deck lounge, a performing arts theatre, one of the best workout facilities in Florida, and The Shark Tank, a thundering 4,500-seat arena, home to the NSU Sharks NCAA Division II athletics. We also have more than 120 clubs and organizations on campus, along with a powerful student government, socially active fraternities and sororities, and intramural sports.

Shark Bite: NSU’s new Center for Collaborative Research (CCR) will house an IBM supercomputer, one of Florida’s largest wet labs, the NSU Technology Incubator, and some of the world’s most accomplished researchers.

The South Florida lifestyle
Beyond our beautiful campus, fantastic shopping, world-class sporting events, festivals, and concerts await. You’ll also enjoy lots of sunshine and an average temperature of 77 degrees. The beach is a 15-minute drive to the east. The Everglades are 15 minutes to the west. South Beach is about a half hour away. Orlando’s famous theme parks are three hours away. So is Key West. Just hop in the car and go.

Shark Bite: Using nearly $82 million in external funding, scientists and researchers are collaborating on projects that advance the University’s academic mission, public service outreach, and health care services.

Finding answers and improving lives
Research is an integral part of NSU’s mission and one of the ways we give back to the community. Advanced research is focused on discovering new ways to improve health care, protect the environment, and enhance human interactions.

Restoring coral reefs, developing anti-cancer therapies, regenerating teeth with stem cells, protecting wildlife through DNA forensics, and treating chronic fatigue syndrome are just a few ways NSU is making a difference.

Are you ready to be a Shark?
We bet you will be once you come see us. We’ll take you on a tour of our 314-acre campus in one of our chauffeur-driven golf carts so you can experience the whole South Florida vibe. You’ll learn about our challenging and rewarding curriculum, as well as our supportive faculty, who want to help you succeed. And you can leave knowing that your ideal college experience, one that prepares you to be a force in your chosen field, is waiting for you.
