Health care education with a liberal arts twist! Since 1891, we’ve educated students as the Midwest’s premier nursing and health professions college offering certificates and associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Are you up to the challenge of being the best?
The Nebraska Methodist difference is that we teach the whole person and believe in health professionals who are people, not robots. At NMC we believe deeply that we define the meaning of care. Indeed, the heart and soul of the best health care professionals are compassion and understanding. Is that you?
Nebraska Methodist College is located in vibrant Omaha, Nebraska (a metro area of one million), with lots to see and do. With an enrollment of 1,000 students and growing, we really care about you. It’s personal. You will learn the meaning of care and compassion through service learning experiences, community-based education, and leadership development integrated throughout the curriculum and in our Student Engagement Center.
Speaking of robots . . .
Our state-of-the-art facilities include well-equipped labs, high-tech classrooms, and even a cadaver lab. We’re so advanced that health care professionals come to train on the equipment you’ll use every day. Simulations include a pregnant mother and baby, an entire family, and more, enabling you to experience real-life scenarios under the watchful eyes of instructors before you experience it in, well, real life. Your immersion in clinicals will begin your first year, something many other colleges can’t claim.
Teaching the meaning of care
Award-winning and nationally recognized educators will become your mentors and role models. As part of the Methodist Health System, we have premium access to our own hospitals and clinics, making clinicals and future job placement pretty straightforward. In fact, our job placement rate within six months of graduation is 98%. That’s right, 98%!
Most colleges simply spend an afternoon of new student orientation sending groups out to the community to pick up trash or do yard work. Nebraska Methodist College immerses students in the world in a way that really allows them to make a difference in the lives of communities and individuals. Compassion is big here. Classes have community service built into the curriculum. Our Center for Health Partnerships leads the way by connecting with numerous organizations throughout Omaha and, indeed, the world, so that all members of the NMC community can work together to effect positive change. An NMC-educated citizen learns to reach out and meet patients where they are through both language and culture.
The small print? None
No required meal plan. No required residency. No cement block dorms. Instead, we have campus apartments with a pool! Food service on campus is provided by our own Deja Brew and daily outside vendors. We’re located in a residential neighborhood and close to just about everything, including public transportation. Safety is everything here, with swipe cards, 24-hour security personnel, and a friendly face at every turn. Our Student Engagement Center provides support for first-generation college students, academic coaching, testing, tutoring, activities, and advising, making personalized study and career mentoring all a part of the NMC experience. As you would expect, our Student Health Center has built-in counseling and campus health services. Scholarships are upfront and transparent—no games here!
