Undergrad Profile

It’s the non-tangibles, the spirit of a place and its people, that make UWA such an amazing place. Start your journey to become a UWA Tiger.

The University of West Alabama, founded in 1835, is a public four-year college nestled on the west side of the state of Alabama. We boast a 14:1 student-faculty ratio and pride ourselves on providing the most comprehensive, hands-on approach to learning possible, with personal advising and individualized career coaching.

Athletics
UWA offers 19 NCAA Division II sports. In the past year alone, we have celebrated a Super Bowl hero, an Olympic Team Trials qualifier, the Gulf South Conference Men’s All-Sports trophy, and four GSC conference championships. It is a good time to be a UWA Tiger!

These are some of the best years of your life. So you need to have fun! UWA offers thrilling outdoor activities, personalized fitness training, competitive NCAA Division II athletics, intramural sports, a lively Greek scene, and a host of activities that will keep your calendar full. The only thing missing is you.

Campus traditions
Have you ever played volleyball in a giant mud pit? Attended a campus-wide talent competition? Participated in a campus-wide search for a hidden key? Taken a ghost tour on Halloween? Our many traditions add to the charm and unique history of our campus.
