“The Methodist University PA program was the perfect choice for me not only because of its high academic standards and expectations, but because the faculty strive to make you the best health care provider. I could not imagine another program I would rather be in than the Methodist University physician assistant program.”

Academic rigor in a nurturing environment
Methodist University will prepare you for a career in the health and medical sciences in a way that only a small private university can—by both challenging and nurturing you.
Physician Assistant Studies (PA)
The Methodist University PA program is widely regarded as one of the strongest programs in the country. This master’s-level program boasts a 96% first-time pass rate on the national boards over the last five years, and Methodist University PA program graduates are in high demand. As an exceptional high school student, you have the unique opportunity to apply for a reserved spot in the graduate PA program by applying for admission preference status. Admission preference allocates up to 10 spaces per year in the graduate program for high school seniors entering Methodist University as an undergraduate.
The Methodist University Professional Nursing Studies program has a number of unique qualities, including the opportunity to pursue Covey® certification through the Lura S. Tally Center for Leadership Studies at MU, FEMA and OSHA certifications through the MU Environmental and Occupational Management program, and a unique Learning Community approach to instruction that allows Nursing students to collaborate with MU Physician Assistant students and students in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at MU. Additionally, a state-of-the-art simulated general hospital for training our Nursing students to work with adult patients, laboring mothers, infants, and children opened in the fall of 2012.
Doctor of Physical Therapy program
The Doctor of Physical Therapy program is the first doctoral degree program at Methodist University and received candidacy accreditation status through the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education. The DPT program welcomed its first cohort of 40 students into this entry-level program in August 2015. This 33-month doctoral program provides students with the opportunity to participate in integrated clinical experiences in the classroom and through a wide variety of clinical experiences with our numerous clinical partners. Students will also gain valuable experience through participation in clinical research projects guided by one of our nine full-time faculty members and access to our motion analysis, motor control, and human performance laboratories.
As a Methodist University graduate, you will be highly qualified for admission to medical schools, pharmacy schools, dentistry schools, nursing schools, physician assistant programs, physical therapy programs, and many other health-related graduate programs and schools. Majors such as Biology, Chemistry, and Kinesiology will give you the undergraduate preparation necessary for success in health-related graduate study.
Nationally accredited by CAATE, the Methodist University Athletic Training program is designed to prepare you for professional opportunities as an NATABOC-Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). You will receive individual instruction in the classroom and in the training facility from our six Certified Athletic Trainers. You will also be assigned to work as a student trainer with many of our 20 NCAA Division III teams. Involvement in the Methodist University Student Athletic Trainers Association and the NATA are highly encouraged as well.
Health Care Administration
With a Health Care Administration degree, you will be prepared to enter any number of administrative and managerial positions in various health care settings.
Methodist University graduates have worked in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and other health care facilities throughout the country and are highly sought after.
