Diversity Profile

Start Your Career Somewhere Unexpected

Whether you dream of becoming a Fulbright Scholar, a public leader, or an Academy Award winner, ONU will prepare you to launch your future from a strong foundation. With top-ranked programs and opportunities outside the classroom, any path you choose at ONU will be grounded in concrete applications for the future. But the best part is that you never really have to choose. Our campus is an open frontier where engineers can be artists and artists can be entrepreneurs. At ONU we embrace the overlap in every field.

At Ohio Northern University, we have a 93% job and graduate school placement rate. Our long-standing success is partly because we have excellent professors, partly because we have ambitious students, and partly because we’ve always been rooted in the future. Here you can get moving toward a career long before you graduate—and our alumni successes prove it.

Student life and leadership opportunities
With more than 200 clubs and organizations available to them, students can easily make new friends and lasting memories while pursuing opportunities for leadership roles in the many activities available on campus.

Strength through diversity
We welcome diversity in all of its forms at ONU. When you surround yourself with people from different backgrounds and cultures, you begin to look at the world through a new lens. Nineteen percent of our students are from other states and foreign countries, and the Office of Multicultural Development works to create an inclusive campus environment for everyone and seeks to develop an identity for multicultural students. Students take an active role in all University activities. A variety of programs are hosted each year, including regular cultural celebrations that feature speakers, performers, music, films, dinners, exhibits, and workshops. Student organizations include Asian American Student Union, the Black Student Union, the Indian Student Association, the Latino Student Union, the Muslim Student Union, Men of Distinction, Sister Circle, the Gospel Ensemble, Open Doors, World Student Organization, and Vision Builders.

Dimension award
Ranging from $1,000–$7,000, the Dimension Award offers financial assistance to incoming freshmen and transfer students based on academic credentials. The Dimension Award is offered to any accepted Ohio Northern student who is Hispanic or Latino, American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Black or African American, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander.
