Christian Life Profile

Waynesburg University, a Christian liberal arts university in Southwestern Pennsylvania, provides students with opportunities to pursue truth in God’s world through rigorous scholarship, academic excellence, and creative expression.

Waynesburg University will change the way you live. You will develop your intellect, gain valuable career experience, and benefit from small classes taught by professors who care. Integrating Christian faith into academic disciplines, Waynesburg University will teach you how your choices influence others and how your decisions can shape the world. When you join Waynesburg University’s community, you will join a league of scholars committed to making a positive impact on the greater community.

Mike Cipoletti, assistant professor of forensic science, spends “more than 375 hours of face time” with a student over a four-year span. What does this mean for you? Your professors will know you. They will be able to provide you with individualized attention and more specific career advisement.

Beginning freshman year, hands-on learning opportunities abound. You might find yourself analyzing crime scene blood spatter in the Forensic Science Lab, leading a local youth group, writing for the award-winning student newspaper, or participating in a variety of other experiential learning opportunities applicable to your major.

As a proud member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), Waynesburg helps students develop academically and professionally on the foundation of faith. Faith is an integral part of the University’s mission and is reinforced in the classroom.

You may choose to practice your faith every Tuesday at Chapel, in your classes, in a prayer or Bible study group, through your artwork, while serving others, or in your own individual way. You will also have opportunities to discuss theory and application of faith as it relates to your future profession.

“Waynesburg helps me grow in my faith every single day,” said Kimberly Baston, a junior communication major. “I was raised in the church and taught to live a Christ-like life, but I often wondered how I would successfully do so without choosing a career in ministry. At Waynesburg, my professors constantly show me through words and example how to live a life of purpose for God in my chosen field.”

Waynesburg University encourages you to build relationships within its Christian community. Through the spiritual opportunities and programs offered, Waynesburg University will provide everything you need to establish, explore, and cultivate a relationship with Christ.

While guiding students in the development of specific skills and talents, Waynesburg also provides opportunities to apply and sharpen them through service. In fact, students, faculty, and staff spend 50,000 hours each year working to improve the lives of others.

Whichever major you choose, you will have service opportunities that fit your skill set and interests. Opportunities include service learning courses and trips, the Bonner Program, student organizations that focus on serving others, and your own personal service initiatives.

More than 90% of students receive some form of financial aid each year, and tuition, room, and board is more than $11,000 below the national average for a private, nonprofit four-year college. Between Achievement Awards and additional scholarships; federal, state, and institutional grants; a number of work-study opportunities; and student and/or parent education loans, Waynesburg University is quite affordable.

With 95% of 2014 graduates reporting working or studying in their chosen field within one year of graduation, Waynesburg was recently ranked a top-value college in a nationwide outcome-based college rankings index compiled by Educate To Career (ETC). ETC describes its rankings as an effort to deliver on the promise of the federal government’s College Scorecard by providing actual college outcomes data on degree value and graduate employability.

The University’s Career Services Center works to ensure the successful transition from college to career for each student. The Center assists with everything from résumé composition to interviewing skills and offers job and internship fairs, one-on-one career coaching, mock interviews, and employer networking opportunities.
