The foundation of education is always advancing. But who would have thought you’d ever be able to learn art and music from a prestigious arts school in the privacy of your own home? Well, thanks to Connections Education, you can!

It has recently been announced, beginning in the 2012–2013 school year, that The Juilliard School is teaming up with Connections Education—part of the well-known global learning company Pearson—to launch the conservatory’s first ever group of online courses for K–12 students and educators. The Juilliard eLearning program will consist of music and other related courses developed at the same high standards set by both parties. Together, the partners combine Juilliard’s exceptional history with performing arts education and Connections Education’s credible reputation with online learning. Who wouldn't want to give it a try?

According to Joseph W. Polisi, President of the Juilliard School, being a part of this program will enable the school to accomplish a goal he has always wanted for Juilliard: to provide arts education programs to the youth as well as surrounding communities. The eLearning program will start by offering elementary, middle school, and high school music, and they’re considering including courses such as music theory, music history, drama history, or dance history in years to come. Each course will provide learning materials from both Juilliard’s experts and Connections Education’s certified teachers.

One of the benefits of Juilliard offering online classes: location doesn't matter! For those students that couldn't attend Juilliard because it was simply out of reach or too far from home, online classes now allow students to not go any further than their own living room. Dreams everywhere are coming true for those students that could once only wish to attend such a world-famous arts school.
