A rigorous preprofessional training program for talented high schoolers interested in a career in the arts or entertainment, CSSSA offers course work in seven disciplines: animation, dance, theater, music, creative writing, the visual arts and film/video. Admission is highly competitive, with all boys and girls having to audition, complete specific artistic assignments and submit teacher recommendations; priority is given to California residents, although a limited number of out-of-state and international students enroll each year. Participants may earn three units of California State University elective credit upon completion of the program. Scholarships are available to California residents only.
