Frances A. Karnes Center for Gifted Studies—Summer Program for Academically Talented Youth

 

Overview

A cooperative effort between the University of Southern Mississippi and Duke University's Talent Identification Program, SPATY provides high-ability students with a balanced educational, cultural and recreational course of studies. Boys and girls spend roughly six hours daily in the classroom, with one hour per evening devoted to individual study. Students live in on-campus dormitories, and staff schedule cultural and recreational activities.
