Interlochen offers intensive study of the arts—music, visual arts, dance, creative writing, motion picture arts and theater—from beginning through advanced levels. Students choose from junior (entering grades 4-7), intermediate (entering grades 7-10) and high school (entering grade 10 through recent high school graduates) divisions. Many of the programs for younger children do not require an audition, but the more challenging and competitive intermediate and high school programs often necessitate an audition. Private lessons are available at an additional fee in all band and orchestral instruments, piano, organ, voice and classical guitar. A diverse recreational program, including watersports, is available.
