Hosted on a different college campus each summer, this program for highly gifted math students balances foundation-building courses and problem-solving activities. University professors lead elective week-long sessions on such foundation topics as induction, number theory, and combinatorics; on such enrichment topics as hyperbolic, spherical, and analytical geometry; and on competition mathematics. Also included are instruction on proofs, mathematical writing and the history of math, and problem-solving instruction prepares boys and girls for various math competitions. Guest lectures provide further enrichment. Evening field games and weekend trips to natural and local attractions round out the program.
