MTU offers a weeklong summer engineering program for high school students. The Engineering Scholars Program enrolls boys and girls from minority or economically or educationally disadvantaged backgrounds, while Women in Engineering serves young women. Students explore careers in mechanical, environmental, electrical, chemical, civil, geological and material engineering, as well as such other disciplines as mathematics, technology, technical writing and computer science. The program features hands-on laboratory and field exercises, group projects, visits with engineering professionals, college and career planning advice, and recreational activities.
