This competitive program enables talented high school, college, graduate, medical and dental students to work together on biomedical research. Most internships take place on the main NIH campus in Bethesda, MD, although opportunities are also available at specialized laboratories and institutes in Baltimore and Frederick, MD; Detroit, MI; Research Triangle Park, NC; Phoenix, AZ; and Hamilton, MT. Interns on the main campus may engage in various summer activities, among them a lecture series featuring NIH investigators, informal lunchtime talks on training for research careers and a trainee poster day.
