Success Oriented Achievement Realized schedules a full range of summer expeditions for students diagnosed with learning disabilities or attentional disorders. Adventure activities include wilderness backpacking and llama trekking, horse packing, rock climbing, white-water rafting, mountain biking, snorkeling and caving. Staff place emphasis on developing self-confidence, social skills, problem-solving techniques, and organizational and time management strategies. Programs operate in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, the Florida Keys, Wyoming, Belize, Costa Rica and Peru. SOAR also provides a one-month academic remediation program that incorporates wilderness-based adventures.
