South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities Summer Programs

Overview

Governor's School summer students receive intensive arts training from practicing artists. Limited to South Carolina residents, the two-week Discovery (for rising ninth graders) and Academy (for rising 10th graders) programs focus upon creative writing, drama, visual arts, and vocal or instrumental music. The curriculum incorporates studio work, self-directed studies, performances, field trips, lectures and presentations by faculty and guest artists. The five-week Summer Dance program, open to students around the world entering grades 7-12, offers complex exercise training in both classical ballet and modern dance. Participants in all programs may showcase their work in end-of-session recitals, readings and presentations.
