AIM allows rising high school seniors to sample life at the US Coast Guard Academy while also completing an engineering project and engaging in military training. The physically demanding weeklong session approximates the undergraduate experience at the academy. Applicants must be in good health and physical condition and must not be colorblind, have asthma or have vision that is not correctable to 20/20. Roughly half of AIM graduates earn appointments to the academy.
