University of Virginia Young Writers Workshop

UVA conducts two annual sessions for aspiring writers: a two-week program for those new to study within a specific genre, and a three-week program for writers who wish to deepen their understanding and mastery of a specific genre. Both sessions feature intensive workshops, labs, readings, conferences with instructors, independent writing time, and opportunities for publication and performance. Intensive workshops employed in the three-week program focus upon songwriting, poetry, screen- and playwriting, fiction and creative nonfiction.
