Scholarship: The Atlantic & College Board Writing Prize
Amount: $5,000
Due Date: February 28
Sponsor: College Board
Details: This scholarship is pretty cool. We’ve got writing, art, and a good chunk of money—not too shabby! According to the scholarship page, “Our understanding of the human experience is enhanced by the study of significant historical artifacts. When we interact with art — when we learn about it, think about it, write and talk about it — we participate in a larger, ongoing conversation about culture and society. The 2016 Writing Prize contest invites you to be part of this conversation.” Pick a piece of art and share your perspective by analyzing and interpreting it! The key, however, is that you need to have a teacher or sponsor submit it for you. It’s an extra step, but it’s awesome because you’ll get a proofreader and someone who can make sure what you’re submitting is up to par.
