Scholarships are an incredibly important part of being able to afford your college journey. Unlike student loans, you don’t need to pay scholarship money back, so you should apply to as many as possible! Each month, CollegeXpress highlights upcoming awards and contests as part of “Scholarship Saturday” to help make your search a little easier. Check out the featured awards below, and be sure to apply if you’re eligible. Good luck!

$1,500 | Easy Scholarship: Give a Friend a Digital Road Safety Card
Deadline: August 15
Info: Applicant must be between the ages of 13 and 25. Take a quiz to receive a customized digital road safety card (or one you can print). Then share the card with a friend to keep them safe while traveling to your favorite spots together when this is over. You’ll automatically enter to win one of the scholarships!

$1,500 | Platt Family Scholarship Prize Essay Contest
Deadline: July 31
Info: Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student at an American college/university. Essay between 1,500 and 5,000 words required on this topic: The Influence of Women on the Era of Abraham Lincoln.

$1,500 | Flavor of the Month Scholarship
Deadline: July 31
Info: Applicant must be 13 years or older, a legal resident of the US and be currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution. July is National Ice Cream Month, and we need a little help picking out a "Flavor of the Month" for our famous ice cream scholarship. Tell us all about your ice cream flavor and you could scoop up a sweet $1,500 scholarship.

$200 | Varsity Tutors College Scholarship Contest
Deadline: July 31
Info: Applicant must be a United States citizen who is at least 16 years old. Essay on specific question found on sponsor's website required.

$1,500 | Sutliff & Stout Scholarship
Deadline: July 31
Info: Applicants must be graduating high school seniors or currently enrolled in a trade school, college or university. Students must write an essay pertaining to distracted driving.

$1,000 | Coachable
Deadline: August 1
Info: Applicants must be full-time students enrolled in a post-secondary institution and must write an essay discussing the importance of sports.

$500 | Race Entry Student Scholarship
Deadline: August 15
Info: Applicant must be enrolled at a college or university in the United States. A short essay sharing your 5K, 10K, half marathon, or marathon race story is required.

$1,000 | Active Life Scholarship for Political Expression
Deadline: August 31
Info: Applicant must be a current college, graduate school, or adult learner. A short essay about being politically active is required. Award can be used at any college to study any major as well as for books and living expenses.

$1,000 | C.I.P. Scholarship
Deadline: August 31
Info: Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of the US and 17 years of age or older who is currently enrolled in or plans to enroll in a program of higher education within the next 12 months. Applicant may be a full- or part-time student and attend a campus-based or online program.

$1,000 | Scholarship Detective Scholarship
Deadline: August 31
Info: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Entrants must complete an application which includes a 140 character or less statement on how you plan to use the scholarship money. Scholarship is awarded based on the best reason.

Grand total: $10,700
