Tyler shows us how to make yummy oatmeal breakfast bars in the microwave. Watch the College Cooking video now!

In this episode of College Cooking, Tyler shows us how to make chocolatey oatmeal bars in the microwave. These bars are quick and easy to make when you want something different—plus, they’re delish! All you need are a few ingredients and a little extra space in the fridge. You can make these bars the night before for a quick, delicious treat the next morning. Learn how in the video below!

What you’ll need

  • 1 stick of butter
  • 2 cups of oats
  • ½ cup of brown sugar
  • ¼ cup of canola oil
  • 1 cup of chocolate chips
  • 1 microwave-safe dish

Instructions

  • Melt the stick of butter in the microwave (about a minute), then set aside.
  • Mix together oats and brown sugar with a fork, being sure to break apart any clumps of brown sugar to be sure it is evenly distributed.
  • Add the canola oil and melted butter to the oat mixture; continue to mix until it becomes a solid clump of oaty dough.
  • Put dough into microwave-safe dish, patting it down so it’s nice and even.
  • Microwave for three minutes.
  • Add chocolate chips on top of the microwaved mix.
  • Microwave at 30% for four minutes; make sure it’s set to 30% to avoid burning the chocolate and setting off the fire alarms! (“Don’t make people mad,” as Tyler says.)
  • Spread the melted chocolate evenly across the top of the oats.
  • Put the dish in the fridge to cool. Wait at least 20 minutes or leave overnight.
  • Cut up and enjoy!

I registered with CollegeXpress, filled all my necessary and relevant information and the course I wished to study. Few days later an email was sent to me with the list of schools offering the course, amongst them was the University of People, the school I got admitted to.

I've used CollegeXpress quite a bit as a senior, particularly for colleges and scholarships, so it's been a very big asset in that respect! I would recommend it to anyone looking to pursue a college education, especially seniors! This scholarship will help me achieve my goals in ways I couldn't have before, and I know that there are opportunities like that for everyone on the website and in the magazines!

This whole website has helped me overcome the attitude I had before. I was scared to even approach the thought of college because it was so much. I knew it wasn’t just a few easy steps, and I panicked mostly, instead of actually trying. Without realizing it, CollegeXpress did exactly what I usually do when I panic, which is take it one step at a time. With college I forget that because it’s more than just a small to-do list, but this website was really helpful and overall amazing. So thank you!

For me, CollegeXpress has given me a valuable tool to use with my students to explore colleges easily beyond objective data. It helps me find colleges for students that fit their needs and wants that aren’t quite so black and white. It's a wealth of knowledge, and the Type-A side of me loves all the lists and the fact that I know they're coming from folks who know what they're talking about. I share it with colleagues and students alike, and it's always well received.

CollegeXpress has helped me tremendously during my senior year of high school. I started off using the college search to find more information about the universities I was interested in. Just this tool alone gave me so much information about a particular school. It was my one-stop shop to learn about college. I was able to find information about college tuition, school rank, majors, and so much more that I can't list it all. The college search tool has helped me narrow down which college I want to attend, and it made a stressful process surprisingly not so stressful. I then moved to the scholarship search tool to find scholarships to apply for because I can't afford to pay for tuition myself. The search tool helped me find scholarships that I was eligible for. The tool gave me all the information I could ever need about a particular scholarship that was being offered. The CollegeXpress scholarship search tool is so much better than other tools offered, like the Chegg scholarship search. Thanks to CollegeXpress, I was able to apply to tons of scholarships in a relatively easy way!
