Dr. Katherine Cohen (known as “Dr. Kat” to her students) is one of the leading independent university admission counselors in the world. Cohen is the founder and CEO of IvyWise, a comprehensive educational consulting company that works with students globally to help them get into the schools of their choice.

Cohen is the best-selling author of The Truth About Getting In and Rock Hard Apps, and is a sought-after speaker and expert on university admission. She is a faculty resource for YPO/WPO (Young and World Presidents Organization) and speaks frequently to banks, corporations, and private groups consisting of parents and students about the university admission process. Cohen is also the Higher Education Expert for LinkedIn and is routinely quoted in international media. Her appearances include the TODAY Show, Fox Business, CNN, Forbes, The New York Times, The Huffington Post, Challenges, The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, and Entrepreneur.

Cohen graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University. She continued her studies at Yale University, receiving two master’s degrees and a Ph.D. She also received her certificate in College Admission Counseling from U.C.L.A. Extension. Prior to founding IvyWise, she served as a Reader in the Yale University Office of Admissions, evaluating applications to Yale College.

Cohen is a member of the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC), the Independent Educational Counseling Association (IECA), the Overseas Association of College Admissions Counselors (OACAC), and the Western Association of College Admissions Counselors (WACAC). She has chaired the Brown University Alumni Schools Committee, acting as an interviewer for the Manhattan area, and is currently a member of the advisory board of the Brown Entrepreneurship Program.
