Health & Medicine at The University of the Pacific
Pre-pharmacy Advantage Program
The University of the Pacific’s Pre-pharmacy Advantage Program gives first-year students the opportunity to complete their undergraduate studies in the same environment as their Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD). Our Pre-pharmacy program lays a strong foundation to set you up for success as you pursue a career in pharmacy.
Pathways: You can earn your PharmD in as few as five years at Pacific. Based on academic standings, you’ll be placed in one of three academic pathways upon admission to the program:
• Five-year (2+3): Two years of undergraduate study, then three years of study in the professional PharmD program
• Six-year (3+3): Three years of undergraduate study, then three years of study in the professional PharmD program
• Seven-year (4+3): Four years of undergraduate study to earn a bachelor's degree, then three years of study in the professional PharmD program
Guaranteed PharmD admission
Each pathway requires a minimum 3.0 GPA overall and a 2.7 GPA in specific math and science courses; submission of an advancement application; an interview; and a writing sample. Completion of these requirements guarantees admission into the PharmD program at the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy.
Pre-dental Advantage Program
Pacific also offers three admission pathways for first-year students admitted to the Pre-dental Advantage Program, all of which allow you to earn an undergraduate degree (in some cases on an accelerated timeline) and guarantee an interview for our Doctor of Dental Surgery degree program.
Pathways:
• Five-year (2+3): Two years of undergraduate study, then three years of study in the professional Dental Surgery degree program
• Six-year (3+3): Three years of undergraduate study, then three years of study in the professional Dental Surgery degree program
