At Westminster College, we are more than you imagine. We study hard, expand horizons, encourage service over self—and we have fun.
We study hard
Our small 12:1 student-faculty ratio lets us teach you the best way possible. Through individualized attention, vibrant discussion, and experiential learning, we are ready to help our students learn. We believe critical thinking is the backbone of a liberal arts education, and our students consistently perform well in their chosen career paths. In fact, 98% of our recent graduates are employed or attending graduate school within a year, and 86% of our Pre-med students are accepted into medical school. That’s nearly double the national average.
Consistently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a top-tier liberal arts college and a national leader in graduation rate performance, Westminster College enrolls more than 1,300 undergraduate and graduate students and offers more than 40 majors. We’ve been ranked the #1 college in the nation for women in science, technology, engineering, and math by Forbes.com, and our Math and Computer Science department is 50% female—the national average is below 15%. We have blended learning opportunities and flexible interdisciplinary degrees, an all-College honors program, and 18 additional honor societies.
We expand horizons
With real-world internship experiences, a strong alumni base, and study abroad opportunities, we show our students what life is like beyond the classroom. Our popular Westminster in London program whisks sophomores and juniors off to London where they study, explore, and grow for an entire academic semester.
We encourage service over self
At Westminster, we believe in serving others and provide myriad opportunities for you to help in communities near and far. Westminster prides itself in modeling a service-over-self philosophy, proven by the fact that we have been on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for excellence in service learning for seven consecutive years. Our students volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, tutoring programs, youth rehabilitation work, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Our students have compassion and are committed to making a difference in the lives of others.
We participate and have fun
Outside of rigorous academics, Westminster students have fun. We offer 22 varsity sports as an NCAA Division III school. Whether it’s basketball, football, softball, or swimming, our students have the chance to participate. Twenty varsity sports compete for championships in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC). We’ve got plenty of intramural programs too. And if that doesn’t keep our students involved, there are nine sorority and fraternity organizations, more than 80 clubs and organizations, student government, choir, dance, theater, the student newspaper—something for everyone.
We are closer than you imagine
Nestled within the charming town of New Wilmington in western Pennsylvania, Westminster is probably closer than you imagine. Just 50 miles north of Pittsburgh and 90 miles south of Cleveland, we are well within driving distance to city life. Our 300-acre tree-lined campus features 22 buildings, several athletic fields, a 100-acre outdoor laboratory, and Brittain Lake.
