The Business Analytics program applies descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to transform data into actionable information. Course topics include advanced statistics, data visualization, time series analysis, forecasting, optimization simulation, decision analysis, database analysis, competitive intelligence, and econometrics. Many local companies partner with our University to provide experiential knowledge, making big data a big deal by offering internship opportunities to eligible applicants.
Business Information Systems
The Business Information Systems major at JU is designed for students who want to live in that constantly morphing intersection between business and technology. Our program provides students with the tools and skills needed for informed decision-making in organizations both large and small. At JU, you will form a better understanding of the impact that information systems have on the business world at large.
Combining the study of economic theory with a broad introductory look at business, Economics majors acquire necessary skills in ethics, communication, and leadership. With a degree that is second to none, our Economics students go beyond the study of supply and demand to explore theory and how to approach today’s hot-button issues. Economics affects our whole world—from government and public policy to corporate America—and our students aren’t only work ready—they’re world ready.
With a focus on creating and maintaining market value, the JU Finance major emphasizes business fundamentals, including courses in ethics, communication, and leadership. Students prepare for career paths in corporate financial management, investment analysis and management, and international financial management. Finance majors receive an excellent foundation for entering graduate programs or seeking professional degrees such as Law or Accounting.
The International Business program partners a solid foundation in business skills with a global perspective and language specialization. This major builds upon foundational business curriculum, adding global perspectives in economics, finance, marketing, government, and politics.
The Sport Business program provides students with a solid foundation in business while integrating a dynamic sport curriculum. You’ll examine how well a sponsor’s marketing plan is communicated to fans, investigate the impact of a game or race on a city’s economy, and much more. Our coursework helps students progress through a wide range of sports-centered classes, including promotion, technology, finance, and management. Capping it all off is a senior seminar, during which students work directly with a client on a real-time project. JU’s location in northeast Florida offers a strong, symbiotic link to professional sports teams in football (NFL), soccer (NASL), golf (PGA), and baseball (MLB-AA); NCAA Division I intercollegiate competition; and other leagues and organizations ranging from auto racing to fishing.
