BGSU offers a transforming and defining educational experience for its diverse community of approximately 19,000 students from 50 states and 70 nations. Ethnic or racial minority students comprise 20% of the fall freshman class. Curriculum and faculty aim higher
BGSU is an international leader, with top-caliber programs in the arts, business, education and human development, health and human services, musical arts, science, and technology.

More than 800 full-time faculty members make teaching a priority and remain involved in research and other activities that enable them to bring life experience as well as scholarship to their classrooms. At BGSU senior faculty are committed to teaching introductory-level courses with reasonable class sizes.

While faculty are the connections between the lessons and the learners, the University libraries are the link to a multitude of holdings, collections, databases, and services. The Learning Commons, located within BGSU’s William T. Jerome Library, is a collaborative learning environment that provides free tutoring, academic coaching, and study skills as well as math and writing support. 

New spaces
BGSU has opened 30 new or majorly renovated buildings within the last five years, including 10 new Greek townhouses, two residences, two dining halls, multiple active learning labs and classrooms, and an 185,000-sq. ft. recreation center. 

Campus life essentials
Committed to ensuring that every student succeeds, Bowling Green challenges and supports students both in and out of the classroom. About 6,000 of BGSU’s students live on campus with options to participate in a learning community, fraternity, or sorority. Explore a diverse range of cultures, ideas, and opinions in one of BGSU’s 23 multicultural student organizations that host over 400 programs and events annually.

The city of Bowling Green, Ohio, population 30,028, is located in northwest Ohio, about 20 miles south of Toledo. It is within comfortable driving distance of all major cities in Ohio and is an easy commute from nearby towns.

BGSU offers more than 200 undergraduate majors and programs in eight undergraduate colleges: Arts and Sciences; Business Administration; Education and Human Development; Health and Human Services; Honors; Musical Arts; Technology, Architecture, and Applied
Engineering; and the regional BGSU Firelands in Huron, Ohio. Numerous programs within these colleges are accredited by their respective national accrediting agencies.

Paying for college
Bowling Green State University awards more than $25 million in academic scholarships, ranging from $1,000 to full fees. To promote and support a diverse campus, BGSU has scholarships for students who are involved in multicultural organizations and academic programs.
