At Newbury College, students enjoy the best of both worlds: a small-college environment with access to big-city life.
In the process, they receive an education that academically, socially, and professionally prepares them for life after graduation. It’s all a part of what we call “Real Life Ready.”
Experience America’s college town up close and personal
Only three miles from downtown Boston, Newbury students are just minutes away from the action and all the metropolitan area has to offer—from restaurants and nightlife galore to top theatre, cultural, musical, and major sporting events that define the heart and pulse of the city. Moreover, with a campus that’s situated in a beautiful residential neighborhood in Brookline—recently named the best suburb in the United States—there may not be a better location for college.

A name, not a number
One-on-one advising, mentoring, and counseling. A small student-faculty ratio of 15:1. An average class size of 19. Personalized attention. Newbury is a small college, yes, but with it comes the distinction of being an active participant in your scholastic journey and in your future. Students coming from diverse backgrounds are all welcomed into a caring community that not only knows its students but truly believes in its students and is invested in your success.
Relevant majors that meet marketplace demands
In offering academic programs that are student centered and active learning based, Newbury provides a solid and broad-based education that not only prepares students for careers of the future but also fosters a necessary background for our graduates to become fully participating citizens in a global economy. In achieving such, Newbury students are privy to a career-focused education that combines relevant majors that are meeting marketplace demands with experiential learning, adventures, and world perspectives outside the classroom that further advance their personal development.
Faculty have solid credentials and are primarily committed to teaching and student achievement. They are also recognized scholars and producers of knowledge and creative activity in their respective fields. Newbury’s acclaimed Student Success Center further provides the resources necessary—including access to academic counselors, career counselors, professors, and tutors—to ensure all students are successfully supported toward their degree pursuits and beyond.
Investing in our students
At Newbury, we understand the financial aid dynamic. Moreover, we are doing our part to make higher education an affordable reality for families today, with financial aid packaging that is as robust as nearly any school in the nation and a net cost of attendance that’s comparable to many larger public institutions.
That commitment translates to over 92% of all incoming students receiving a merit scholarship and/or need-based grant funding, where the College allocates an excess of $10 million in institutional aid for its students. These scholarships and grants are guaranteed through the duration of a student’s full-time studies, assuming they maintain certain academic levels. Moreover, the average total financial aid award for Newbury students is over $31,000 annually.
