Cardiff Metropolitan University
Located in Wales’s vibrant capital city, Cardiff Metropolitan University has a rich history of welcoming students from around the world to study in our career-focused programmes. We trace our history back to 1865 when the School of Art first opened in the Old Free Library in Cardiff. Since then, we have developed into a university that remains rooted in Wales while providing a practice-focused and professionally oriented education to students from around the globe. Our vision emboldens this commitment to education, research, and innovation undertaken in partnership between our students and governments, business, and industry and with tangible benefits for individuals, society, and the economy. We are committed to ensuring that every student fulfils their potential to make outstanding graduate-level contributions to their own and future generations.
With two campuses in the Llandaff and Cyncoed areas of the city, the University offers three-year bachelor’s honour degrees and one- to two-year master’s degrees. For PhD interest, most students complete in three years.
With a broad range of subjects, students can study within five academic schools:
• Cardiff School of Art & Design
• Cardiff School of Education & Social Policy
• Cardiff School of Management
• Cardiff School of Sport & Health Sciences
• Cardiff School of Technologies
Our connections and collaborations ensure that staff with relevant expertise and qualifications teach our students, allowing them to meet employer needs. Many of our undergraduate degree programmes are accredited, approved, or have support from established external organisations such as ACCA, CIMA, British Psychological Society (BPS), the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the Institute of Biomedical Science, and the Institute of Food Science & Technology.
Internships and industry placements
Whether you study for a bachelor’s or master’s degree, there will be opportunities for you to gain industry experience and network with professionals to be career ready at the end of your studies.
We now have a number of two-year master’s programmes that incorporate such opportunities. Those currently offered include MBA, Advanced Computer Science, Data Science, Events Project Management, Food Science and Technology, Applied Public Health, and Biomedical Sciences.
Study or work abroad
In an ever-changing, competitive graduate market, enhancing your degree has never been so important. As such, many of our courses offer opportunities to study abroad or take part in field trips.
