The University of Kentucky (UK) has over 25 programs ranked among the top 20 in the country. With over 200 majors available at the University, students have no shortage of options to choose from. UK is a dynamic institution that, together with its 55 research centers, works on a variety of real-life issues such as beating cancer or investigating renewable energy sources. The University’s world-class faculty make it their mission to support students in every way, from your first day to graduation and beyond.

We’re home to over 2,000 international students from more than 100 different countries, and we take pride in our diverse international population. UK offers a wide range of services to help international students succeed in and out of the classroom. Whether students are looking for immigration advice, answers about health care services, internship opportunities and career support, or even general counseling, they can turn to International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS). The ISSS team helps international students develop a sense of belonging, succeed academically, and remain engaged throughout their time at UK.

Our campus is also home to world-class sports facilities and more than 500 clubs and activities that promote student involvement. The University recently opened a $200 million state-of-the-art Student Center and has 14 new, modern residence halls with 13 Living Learning Programs.

Size of Campus: Our beautiful residential campus is adjacent to downtown Lexington and stretches over 814 acres.

Number of Faculty: With over 2,000 faculty members and a 17:1 student-faculty ratio (lower than the national average), 75% of our courses have fewer than 40 students.

College of Engineering
One of 17 colleges at UK, the College of Engineering offers rigorous programs and enriching experiences that encourage collaboration and creativity. It partners with industry leaders through co-ops and internships, giving students real-world experiences that lead to meaningful careers.

College of Arts & Sciences
The College of Arts & Sciences is home to 19 academic departments that offer degrees in 29 disciplines and 37 minors.

For more than 80 years, students at the Gatton College of Business & Economics have learned key business strategies from both market-leading executives and world-renowned faculty members. 

Lewis Honors College
The Lewis Honors College provides an alternative course of instruction for outstanding, highly motivated students from all programs of study. Honors students are diverse, innovative, intellectually engaged, and interested in creative thought.

than 100 countries.

International Student Services: UK has a number of services for prospective and current international students. These include personalized information sessions, application support, scholarship support, support and information about student employment, health coverage, academic advising, and immigration advising to help international students achieve their academic, professional, and research goals.

International Student Budget:
• Undergraduate Tuition and Fees: $31,500
• Room and Board: $12,500

Financial Aid: UK has multiple scholarship programs available for international students. These include academic-based merit scholarships, diversity scholarships, and the International Ambassador Scholarship program. Students may receive more than one scholarship, often stacking up to amount to full tuition. Students who want to be eligible for all scholarships must apply by December 1.

Test Score Requirements: The University is test-optional for admission and scholarship applicants for the upcoming admission cycle. Students may fulfill the English-proficiency requirement with the following scores: TOEFL: 71 iBT, IELTS: 6.0, or Duolingo: 95; if your primary school instruction language is English, this requirement may be waived.
