Career preview
All Marymount University undergraduates complete an internship or research experience related to their major—with the advantage of one-of-a-kind networking opportunities available only in a global city like DC. Popular internship sites have included Congressional offices and the White House, the National Science Foundation, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the Washington Redskins, the FBI, National Geographic Society, and the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts.
Marymount places a premium on critical thinking, creativity, and undergraduate student research through the DISCOVER Program. Imagine studying chimpanzees with post-traumatic stress disorder in Kenya, analyzing Web hacking behavior in DC, or changing daily habits in Peru to eradicate a common health hazard. Marymount students have been there, done that. “My DISCOVER program grant built my confidence in my research skills as I studied sea turtle embryology. I also studied in Belize, where we tagged a hawksbill sea turtle in the study of migratory patterns and are still tracking data in the lab.”
A study abroad experience will put you on the world’s doorstep—teaching hands-on science methods in India or taking art classes in Florence, Italy. As a Marymount student, you'll have the opportunity to study or intern in almost any corner of the world. What better way to expand your knowledge and understanding of today’s global society and workplace?
