University of the Pacific values inclusiveness

The University of the Pacific believes that diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential to the fulfillment of our institutional mission. We value inclusiveness in learning, curricular and cocurricular programming, campus climate, recruitment, admission, hiring, and retention. We resolve to foster a community that’s open-minded, multifaceted, and respectful of all persons.

Intercultural Student Success
The Intercultural Student Success (ISS) office strives to provide enriching educational opportunities that emphasize understanding and integrating intercultural dialogue, conflict management, and identity development to advance student success and community engagement. Our foundational values include diversity and inclusion, social justice, leadership and civic engagement, advocacy, and empowerment. ISS spaces serve as a home away from home for students who live on and off campus. Intercultural Student Success hosts the following:

• Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi Student Success
• Black Student Success
• Gender Equity Center
• LatinX and Native American Student Success
• Pride Resource Center

Pacific PROMISE Scholars program
The Pacific PROMISE Scholars program helps former foster care and homeless students seek higher education as a path toward achieving their dreams. Since 2012, we’ve worked with students to develop a foundation for success in college through advocacy, assistance, and support. The Pacific community believes it's important to help students who don’t always have the support they need to be successful in college.

SUCCESS TRiO is a US Department of Education grant-funded program that serves underrepresented first-generation students. The program’s mission is to provide holistic and effective retention services to eligible students by empowering them in their academic, personal, and social development. Services for SUCCESS TRiO students include tutoring, direct financial assistance, and academic, financial, personal, and career counseling.

Community Involvement Program

The Community Involvement Program (CIP) is a comprehensive need-based scholarship and retention program for first-generation college students in the Stockton community who’ve demonstrated the potential for sustainable leadership, community awareness, and involvement. Established in 1969 by a group of students, community members, faculty, and staff who wanted to provide educational opportunities to the local community and diversify the University of the Pacific campus, this program serves the educational needs of low-income students by providing access to college—along with a wide range of support services—to CIP Scholars as they pursue higher education.
