Transferring to UD

If you’re thinking about transferring to UD, the best thing you can do is begin preparing early. Before you apply, it is crucial to review the requirements by major section below. Some majors are closed to transfers, while many other majors require a higher GPA and/or specific course requirements in order to be considered for admission.

1. Make sure you meet the admission requirements for your major.

2. Complete the transfer application and pay the $75 application fee via your My Blue Hen Home after you submit the application.

3. Send post-secondary work (including college courses taken during high school) to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. If you earned less than 30 transferable credits, please send your official final high school transcript* or GED certificate and SAT or ACT scores.

* Unofficial college transcripts may be used for admissions purposes, but if admitted, official transcripts will be required.

Fall Application Priority Deadline: May 1*
Spring Application Priority Deadline: November 1*

*Applicants submitting the application and any required materials after the deadlines may be considered on a space-available basis.

Transfer applicants are evaluated and notified by the My Blue Hen Home on a rolling basis beginning October for spring applicants, and beginning January for fall applicants. A physical letter will follow.  Beginning these months and once all materials are received, applicants will hear from the admissions office in about 6-8 weeks.* The admissions office will email you if you need to submit current semester final grades or other pertinent items (audition, portfolio) before an admissions decision can be made.

*Decisions for majors in the College of Engineering may take additional time since space availability needs to be determined at the end of each semester.

An Inside Look

What students are saying about us...

  • "The University of Delaware made transferring an incredibly easy process. From plenty of advisors who helped me work out transfer credits, to living with other transfers who have become lifelong friends, to taking a transfer seminar on settling in at the University, UD does a great deal to help their transfer students adjust. I have never looked back on my decision to transfer to the University of Delaware."
