Performing Arts at Asbury: This could be you!

With a commitment to academic excellence and spiritual vitality, Asbury University encourages its students to study, worship, and serve together on a campus located 20 minutes southwest of Lexington in Wilmore, Kentucky. Primarily a four-year, multi-denominational institution, the University has been at the heart of spiritual movements throughout its history. The University provides many opportunities for student involvement both on and off campus. Internships, exchange programs, missions, and community service opportunities are also available and are part of the curriculum in nearly every major.

Theatre
The Theatre program provides training for the well-rounded theatre artist—and that could be you! Acting, technical skills, design, and management: Your work at Asbury will combine practical knowledge, academic depth, and a natural integration of faith into your craft. Theatre is a living artform; starting your first year, you can be a creative partner in our stage, film, and TV projects. Other opportunities include studying at The Globe Theatre in London, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and internships at theatres across the country. Students graduating with the Theatre Arts are prepared for jobs including actor, teacher, costume designer, director, dramaturg, stage hand, lighting designer, makeup artist, playwright, scenic designer, sound designer, stage manager, technical director, theatre critic, wardrobe supervisor, light board operator, props master, charge artist, sound board operator, voice over artist, chief electrician, house manager, casting associate, crew, set builder and many others.

Music 
Develop your musical gifts through outstanding performance opportunities, rigorous academics, and thriving musical community. Music Majors at Asbury receive an elite education and dynamic performance opportunities while preparing to make an IMPACT around the world. Asburians are teaching music in schools in Saudi Arabia, Nepal, and across the United States and performing on stages with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Pershing’s Own Army Band, The Houston Grand Opera, and more! Music Alumni are also impacting the world as church musicians, pastors, doctors, lawyers, graphic designers, and countless other professions.

Worship Arts Program
Master worship leading skills, pursue musical excellence, and nurture your faith as you become a leader in worship. The Worship Arts major at Asbury is dedicated to equipping young men and women in using the arts to engage their culture with the truth and love of Jesus Christ. It's a program where passion runs alongside excellence in practice—where classes are designed to lead your heart as well as train your mind. We want to use music, the visual arts, and drama to lead people who don’t know Jesus to Him and to lead those who do know Him closer to Him.

Classes are taught by experienced scholars, 75% of whom hold terminal degrees in their field of study.

Asbury's 15 academic departments offer over 150 areas of study, including with online programs. The University also offers several master’s degrees in Business Administration, Media Communication, and Education, including alternative certification programs.
