History that shapes the future
Founded in 1826, Mississippi College is the oldest institution in the state. For nearly two centuries, the College’s mission has been to foster an environment dedicated to academic excellence and commitment to the cause of Christ in order to transform students intellectually, socially, and spiritually so they may in turn go out and impact the world. Furthermore, MC was the first coeducational college in America to grant a degree to a woman.
Our mission, your calling

At MC, we want to affect the head and the heart. Students are encouraged to let their faith animate their service to God and the greater world around them. That may take many forms, but we believe it is one of the most significant decisions our students will make in their lives.
Students who visit our campus are amazed by what they find. Our portfolio of academic programs includes 86 undergraduate majors, over 50 graduate programs of study, a School of Law, and a Physician Assistant program. This breadth of academic programming, plus a tight-knit student community and a gorgeous campus, makes MC a rare find in higher education.
New and popular majors
Students may choose from any of our 86 majors and be well prepared to achieve their life’s calling. Pre-medicine, Nursing, Pre-physical Therapy, Education, and Business are some of our most popular majors with competitive placement rates into postsecondary education programs. Some of our newest majors include Political Communication, Sports Media, and Electrical Engineering. Any student may supplement their major with a Servant Leadership minor, a brand-new minor that exposes students to the theory, historical examples, and real-world practice behind effective leadership.
The student experience
MC proactively seeks to engage students in any of our 70+ chartered campus activities and organizations on campus.
