Illinois Institute of Technology’s colleges offer study options that give you maximum flexibility to achieve your goals. The University offers traditional master’s and doctoral programs (thesis required), professional master’s programs (no thesis required), dozens of certificate specializations, dual-degree options, and short-term executive and professional packages. Some or all of your graduate study may be completed online.

Armour College of Engineering
Educating engineers for more than a century—Armour College of Engineering is located on Illinois Tech’s Mies Campus in Chicago. Founded in 1893 as Armour Institute, it is dedicated to preparing students from all backgrounds for careers as engineers in a rapidly changing, technology-driven society. That mission and vision has not changed.

Today, Armour College continues the tradition of excellence in graduate engineering education and research that is aligned with national priorities. Our roster of more than 90 full-time faculty members are engaged in fundamental and applied research leading to the development of new technologies of global impact. Faculty also drive the advancement of most of Illinois Tech’s research institutes and centers.

Armour College is committed to providing an excellent, technology-focused education that emphasizes the entrepreneurial and ethical aspects of engineering. Our graduate programs also provide greater insight into technology’s overall impact on society. Through rigorous and relevant research and study, you will be prepared to innovate and lead.

College of Architecture
IIT College of Architecture is one of the largest and most international architecture schools in the United States. With more than 800 students from 50 countries and more than 100 faculty members, the school itself represents the global metropolis in miniature. Our faculty are international prize-winning architects, scholars, and engineers. Beyond the College, the city of Chicago provides the inspiration and a testing ground for our explorations as students learn directly from one of the world’s greatest metropolises.

Within this richly diverse context, students learn to define themselves as they progress through the curriculum, working toward ever greater levels of independence in their research, writing, and design. IIT College of Architecture is devoted to educating students to become self-constructors—individuals who define and educate themselves. Our curriculum stresses research, analysis, and synthesis as the fundamental skills that will allow our graduates to seize opportunities and explore new territories.

Our studio-based programs increase in complexity from basic building elements to the city itself. While urban contexts are emphasized throughout this progression, the scale of work grows along with our capabilities.

College of Science
Rigor and relevance—Illinois Tech’s College of Science graduate students from throughout the world access the resources of a major research university with the collaboration and personal attention usually associated with a small private institution of higher education.

At the heart of our education is discovery—research that changes how we look at our world and expands our knowledge of worlds beyond our own. The College’s research endeavors are grounded in basic principles and modern technology with a special emphasis on interdisciplinary inquiry and collaboration.

Our programs are rigorous, giving you a rock-solid foundation in the discipline, and they’re relevant, giving you context in which the knowledge might be put to real-world use. Lewis College of Human Sciences
Illinois Tech’s Lewis College of Human Sciences has graduate programs in the humanities and in Psychology. The College challenges graduate students to think critically about our complex world and addresses compelling human problems with a focus on technological innovation while still maintaining the free spirit and broad perspectives traditionally reserved for the liberal arts.

School of Applied Technology
Cutting-edge technology for today and tomorrow—The School of Applied Technology offers certificate, short-course, and degree programs on Illinois Tech’s Mies Campus in Chicago and at Rice Campus in west suburban Wheaton.

The School of Applied Technology will prepare you to excel in the exciting disciplines of new and emerging information technologies. You will learn the application and integration of such technologies as well as the administrative practices used to manage them effectively.

Courses in Information Technology and Management are designed to provide you with solid knowledge in the field and to prepare you to take industry-standard certification exams.

Cyber Forensics and Security program courses draw from offerings at Illinois Tech’s Chicago-Kent College of Law, preparing you to address the challenges of computer privacy and network security.

Courses in Industrial Technology and Management prepare you for managerial positions in industry—ideal for technical specialists who need formal management education and training.

Graduate students explore technology and the management issues involved in cutting-edge technology to develop business solutions. You’ll be guided by faculty-experts with strengths in areas such as database applications, data analytics, digital networks, wireless communications, mobile-device applications, cloud computing, embedded systems, and more.
