Master of Health Administration
Stony Brook University, ranked one of the top 100 universities in the nation and one of the top 50 public universities by U.S. News & World Report, offers a Master of Health Administration (MHA) Program at Stony Brook Southampton, our satellite location on the beautiful East End of Long Island.
The MHA Program, offered through Stony Brook’s School of Health Technology and Management, is a 50-credit blended degree program that develops highly qualified health managementprofessionals. The program couplesa strong foundation in general management principles with specialized knowledge in health care.
Students have the opportunity to achieve their degree through a combination of high-quality, interactive distance education; intense, face-to-face on-campus residencies; and experiential learning opportunities. In addition, all students receive one-on-one career advisement as part of a mentorship program. Seasoned health care managersand executives work directly with students to assist them in initiating a path to reach their ultimate goals in the health management field.
As part of a world-class university and academic medical center, the Stony Brook University MHA Program offers students unique opportunities to gain experience and learn from experts in the health care field, including C-suite executives, directors, and presidents of reputable health care institutions who may also serve on the MHA Program Advisory Board. Graduates of this program will develop competencies on a breadth of topics relevant to the management of health care organizations, including finance, accounting, analytic methods, management, leadership, law, professionalism,ethics, organizational behavior, human resources, health technology,information management, quality, performance improvement, strategicplanning, communication skills, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Structured as a 21-month course of study and composed of five-week intensive sessions, the MHA Programoffers a challenging course with the flexibility to meet the needs of working professionals. Cohort members create a community of scholars, including a student-run organization of Future Health Care Leaders who learn with and from one another.
