Alfred University Creative Writing Camp | Summer Programs

Alfred University Creative Writing Camp

While sampling college life, high schoolers enrolled in the program gain an introduction to several genres of creative writing: poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction and drama. During morning and afternoon sessions, students complete writing-intensive exercises that address voice, character, metaphor, persona and narrative. Workshop sessions employ a seminar-like model that enables writers to critique and revise their work. In addition, staff conduct reading-intensive classes and roundtables designed to facilitate discussion of writers and their strategies.
