Choate Rosemary Hall Math/Science Institute for Girls

This intensive, five-week program enrolls middle school girls with a strong interest in math and science; advanced knowledge in these areas is not necessary. The institute seeks to build knowledge through hands-on projects, cooperative learning and team building; use of technology, including graphing calculators, computer spreadsheets, statistics software and word processors; research skill and technique instruction; and enriching field trips. The program culminates with an independent research project: Each student conducts library research on a topic of interest and formulates a scientific hypothesis, then designs and performs an experiment to test the hypothesis.
