At City of Hope, high school and college students work with faculty mentors on a research project of their choosing. Individual investigators select applicants whose background and interests are best suited to each lab. In addition to lab work, young men and women attend weekly seminars in which they share their research findings with their peers, and they also participate in workshops on such topics as biomedical ethics. While program dates are flexible, all students must complete a 10-week internship.
