On University of California campuses in Davis, Irvine, San Diego and Santa Cruz, COSMOS enables advanced math and science students to engage themselves in an intensive academic experience that addresses topics not generally taught in high schools. Among these subject areas are astronomy, aerospace engineering, biomedical science, wetlands ecology, ocean science, robotics and game theory. Pupils enroll in two classes drawn from math and science, along with a science communication course. The program includes hands-on lab work, field activities, lectures and discussions, and students also complete a research project.
