Conducted at five college campuses in California and one in Cambridge, MA, Sally Ride Science Camp enables girls to explore science, technology and engineering through such hands-on activities as the construction of rockets, robots and marine habitats. Each student chooses a science major that includes several small labs and a substantial culminating project. Four-day programs allow girls to choose between an introduction to marine science and an introduction to engineering; five- and seven-day sessions provide a choice between marine biology and astronomy; and the 10-day advanced program offers another two options: advanced marine science/marine ecology and robotics. Afternoon and evening enrichment activities take the form of workshops, experiments, guest speakers and recreational pursuits.
