Humanities Spring Archaeology Boot Camp

Humanities Spring Archaeology Boot Camp (HSABC) is a small, lively community in Assisi, Italy. Intensive, hands-on study of Paestum and Pompeii, the two classical cities per eccellenza. Students absorb as much as they can about everything from classical inscriptions and ancient city-planning, to temple architecture, the history of the domus, and Roman frescoes. They also read ancient poets and historians who shed light on these two archaeological sites. Mini-themes in each unit highlight the particular architectural and artistic marvels of each city. HSABC teaches students to explore on their own, to think like archaeologists, and to develop their own archaeological imaginations and intuitions.
