HSIA students take morning courses in Renaissance poetry, art, architecture and society; ancient Greek and Roman poetry, art and archaeology; and Italian language, literature and conversation. In the afternoon, boys and girls embark on study trips to view related works of art and architecture. HSIA schedules outings to the beach and to jazz and arts festivals; day trips to Florence, Ravenna and Tarquinia; and a three-day southern excursion to Pompeii, Paestum and the Amalfi Coast. Archaeology Boot Camp, which convenes right after the regular session and incurs an additional fee, enables students to join archaeologists for a week of intensive, in-depth study of Paestum and Pompeii.
