At the University of Virginia, Georgetown, Princeton and Stanford universities, high school students follow a curriculum that includes a systematic introduction to American government and politics, a speaker program and student debates on current issues. The collegiate academic environment stresses substantial reading, research and writing. Meeting six days each week, classes are equivalent to one-semester high school honors or Advanced Placement courses. AP exam preparation is offered in US government, comparative government, US history and macroeconomics. The Georgetown program includes a high-level speakers program that takes students around Washington, DC, to meet with political leaders.
