Limited to New Jersey residents, NJSP brings highly motivated rising seniors from diverse socioeconomic, ethnic and racial backgrounds to the Lawrenceville School campus for five weeks of college-level study. Program topics, which rotate biennially, are interdisciplinary in nature. Each day begins with a whole-group lecture, after which boys and girls attend morning and afternoon group seminars and engage in extensive reading assignments and research at museums and libraries. Students work closely with college faculty to produce a 10- to 15-page research paper, and they also contribute to an arts festival that is thematically related to the academic curriculum. Each pupil must be nominated by his or her guidance counselor.
