Northwestern University—National High School Institute

Serving academically talented high school students, NHSI programs in speech and debate comprise classes, workshops, field trips, projects and lectures. The Debate Institute offers rigorous four- and five-week programs for rising sophomores, juniors and seniors, with an emphasis on incoming seniors. Students attending the Speech Division's four-week session train for competition in debate, interpretation, oratory and extemporaneous speaking. Group outings and social events balance class work. Northwestern also conducts workshops in film and video production, musical theater and theater arts (see separate listing for details).
