Rutgers Young Scholars Program in Discrete Mathematics



This intensive program serves mathematically talented high schoolers who are considering careers in the mathematical sciences. Students gain an introduction to the growing area of discrete mathematics, in the process enhancing their problem-solving abilities by applying mathematical concepts to an array of problems. During the course of the four weeks, boys and girls also meet with professionals in the field who serve as mentors and help the student assess his or her suitability for a career in math. Instructional sessions, field trips, research projects, technology-based activities, career workshops, and informal evening and recreational activities are all part of the program.
