Funded by the National Science Foundation as part of its Materials Research Science and Engineering Center programs, the Garcia Center invites high school upperclassmen to work on focused polymer science and technology research teams. Participants create independent projects with the guidance of Garcia faculty and graduate students. In addition to entering national competitions, young men and women are encouraged to publish articles in scientific journals and to present their results at national conferences. Program dates are flexible, and students may continue their research during the following academic year. Participants have been recognized by the Intel Science Talent Search and the Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology.
