PIE serves international students interested in improving their English language skills. Morning classes emphasize speaking and listening and incorporate work in writing, vocabulary and grammar. In the afternoon, students work on supervised group projects of their own design, embark on local trips or take part in outdoor activities with other Putney summer students. Regularly scheduled field trips to places of cultural interest are part of the program, as is a weekly full-day excursion to a larger city such as Montpelier, Burlington or Boston, MA.
