Selected for their overall academic acheivement and their interest in science, FSI participants engage in various aspects of science, technology, engineering and math through classroom and lab activity, field trips and industrial visits, and seminars conducted by academic and industry professionals. Although the curriculum varies year to year, instructors place particular emphasis on the relationships and interdependence among such math and science disciplines as biology, chemistry, physics, earth and space science, computer science and engineering. Most boys and girls work with a mentor on an in-depth scientific research project.
